Our company has a very robust policy prohibiting discrimination against women, as does the Commonwealth of Virginia. Unfortunately, the same does not hold true for the US Constitution.
Virginia has the opportunity to be the 38th State to ratify the ERA which will rectify that oversight from a time when wives and slaves were considered chattel.
A simple statement that our company will not support any Virginia politician who opposes the ERA ( supports something that our management and stockholders will not tolerate) is requested. It should make great PR —over half the population (our customer base) is female and 81% of registered voters in Virginia support ratification of the ERA.
I leave it in the hands of the legislative affairs office whether this should be shouted via the media or whispered in leadership’s ear, but time is of the essence.
