Communications sent to legislators by the VAratifyERA campaign will be provided here so constituents know what information legislators have received about Virginia’s historical opportunity to be the 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.

May 9, 2019 – letter sent to Representative Stephen I. Cohen, Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties following the April 30th hearing on H.J.Res. 38 to remove the deadline from the Equal Rights Amendment. This letter was formally added to the Congressional Record. Representative Ben Cline (R – Virginia’s 6th Congressional District) is a member of the subcommittee and was present at the hearing. January 3, 2019 – letter sent to all legislators summarizing local localities and organizations around the state who have added Virginia’s ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment to their legislative priorities and passed resolutions in support of ratification. Letter available here.

January 2, 2019 – letter sent to all legislators with the recent opinion of the American Bar Association that Virginia should ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. Read the letter here.

November 21, 2018 – letter sent to all Republican senators and delegates in response to an internal note reminding all Republicans that the archivist’s office had classified the Equal Rights Amendment as a “dead amendment.” Letter available for download here.
