We have a variety of impressive speakers lined up for our equality celebration. Come and hear their messages of celebration, inspiration, hope, and power. The opening speakers will begin at 3 PM, and there will also be closing speakers after the parade.
Kate Kelly, Esq.
Human Rights Attorney and Activist
Kate Kelly is a zealous advocate and passionate activist. She has a JD from American University Washington College of Law, the only law school in the world founded by and for women. Kate is currently a human rights attorney at Equality Now. She is a vocal women’s rights champion in the US and around the world.
Founder/Co-Director, Equal Means Equal
Actress, filmmaker, activist, and President of Heroica Films, Kamala Lopez, launched the movement and documentary film Equal Means Equal, to educate Americans about the importance of equal rights under federal law for women and completing the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment and adding it to the US Constitution.
Faith Elizabeth (“Liza”) Walker Mickens is the great-great-granddaughter of Maggie L. Walker. She has been a family spokesperson speaking about Mrs. Walker’s history and legacy since she was 5 years old. She is a recent graduate of James Madison University and is currently working in the fashion industry at PR Consulting.
Executive Director, Poor People’s Campaign of Virginia
Andrea Miller is the originating president of National Women’s Political Caucus of Virginia and a lead organizer of Virginia Poor People’s Campaign, a multi-issue advocacy group. Andrea is also a national organizer with the Reclaim Our Vote project and a digital advocacy expert. She is the former Executive Director of People Demanding Action, former Co-Executive Director of Progressive Democrats of America and was the Democratic nominee in 2008 for the House of Representatives in Virginia’s 4th District.
